April Hunter started out as a showgirl, then fitness model. She later went on to WCW where she was one of the original N.W.O. girls. There, April was a valet for Scott Steiner (yes, a 'Freak'), Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Bret Hart and the Harris Brothers. After that (and even now) she is getting full training at Kowalski's and working the indies. Currently April travels all over on most weekends and does indie shows, such as WXW, trying to gather experience in front of a live crowd and perfect what she does well. "It's not uncommon for me to travel 6-8 hours to spend all of six minutes in the ring," she says. "I work managing my travel partner 'Slyk' Wagner Brown, as a tag team (Team SWB & Big Red) and/or will do singles matches. I'll tape the action, watch it back quite a few times, cringe and learn. Doing these shows also gives me a chance to meet fans from all over, too." Her Philosophy on pro wrestling: "Just Because You Look Like A Centerfold, Doesn't Mean You Have To Wrestle Like One." While April works in an inter-gender tag team with Slyk in "Team SWB & Big Red", she is also one half of the female tag team, known as: "Killer Babes." The "Babes" are Nikki Roxx and April, both named after being two of the only females left to consistently train at Killer Kowalski's. They made their debut for UWF in MA against Trinity & Simply Luscious. Following the lead of the Japanese women, "Killer Babes" is one of the first true American female tag teams where it's not just two girls thrown together the evening of a wrestling show. The goal? To change American Women's wrestling. The way April sees it, "there are two types of women in the ring. The Wrestlers and The T&A. Very rarely the two will ever meet. We intend to change that." Both girls were trained by WWF Hall Of Fame Legend Walter "Killer" Kowalski, and top independent wrestler "Slyk" Wagner Brown. currently, both are continuing their training while working shows. |
